The undrafted 29-year-old quarterback has been a season saver for the Commanders, winning five of six games since taking over for the injured Carsen Wentz.

Washington is last in the jacked-up NFL East, but at 7-5 still very much in the hunt for a wild card spot.

For betting purposes, the one game in which the Commanders didn’t come out on top during Heinicke’s recent run as the starter was in Week 9, a 20-17 loss to the Minnesota Vikings, who were 3.5-point favourites.

That means going back to the final two games of last season, Heinicke is 7-0-1 ATS in his last eight starts.

Does that mean you take the Commanders on Sunday, when they are 2.5-favourites in a visit with the Giants?

Not automatically.

The Giants are co-owners of the best ATS record in the NFL at 8-3-0, along with the Titans and the Bengals, although they most recently failed to cover in a Week 11, 31-18 loss to the Lions.

The Commanders, who didn’t fare so well with Wentz at the controls, are 7-4-1 ATS this season.

Also worth noting when you make your weekend wagers, courtesy of BetOnline:

– The Chargers, who are visiting the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday, are 6-0 ATS on the road this season.

– The “under” in Denver Broncos games this season is 10-1.
